Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) involves tight muscles that constrict the median nerve. The median nerve is responsible for the sensation and movement of your hands. If your median nerve is compressed anywhere on its path, you may begin to notice symptoms like weakness, pain, and tenderness in the wrist and hand. When electric impulses travel across the wrist, nerve signals from the hand become blurred due to muscle constriction, which can cause damage to the somatosensory cortex  (a region in the brain that processes touch). Mild symptoms can often worsen when they are left untreated. In severe cases, this condition could cause severe pain and disability. Traditional Chinese Medicine can help release the tension around your median nerve by relaxing the muscle in your wrist and arm.

Below are a few treatments that can help;

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Acupuncture

When acupuncture needles are inserted at specific points in your body they activate a neural response in your peripheral nerves (nerves not attached to your spinal cord or brain).  Acpuncture also increases the level of endorphins in your spinal cord and brain, which can help reduce pain and promote the relaxation of muscles. Acupuncture is an excellent treatment option for carpal tunnel patients. It is a safe and non-invasive procedure that can relieve your pain.

Electric stimulation

A continuous electric pulse is produced by the device that attaches to acupuncture needles via small clips. By sending a very small electric current through a muscles are forced to contract and relax repeatedly.  This reprogrames your muscles to contract and relax when needed, and stops the constant contraction of the muscles constricting the median nerve.
